Paris January 2010 The Palace of Versailles

We stayed with John and Ingrid, friends from St. Paul who moved to Paris almost two years ago, in their cute little house in Chaville near Versailles, west of the center of Paris. Duncan, a tenth grader, was our tour guide and interpreter extraordinaire both at the Palace of Versailles and the next day in Paris.

Driving for a day and half through Spain and France - beautiful coastal cities including Biarritz, France on the Atlantic coast near the border, beautiful forests, the city of Bordeaux with rolling hills and vineyards for hundreds of miles and lots of rain. We made it to Paris in time to visit nearby Versailles and the summer palace built for Louis XIV. It was over the top gorgeous, including the incredible Hall of Mirrors which they began building in 1678.

Madrid January 2010

At "home" in Madrid. Snow that melted quickly thank heaven. Three Kings Day and a new kitchen for Isabel plus more fun toys and dancing with Evan.

A trip to the chocolate and churros bar for that amazing cup of extra thick dark chocolate and the Spanish version of fried dough.

Precious, smiley, pudgy Katya - almost ready to sit up on her own

Granada January 2010 Evan's Hike and Photos

The guys on their own exploring Granada and the countryside above the Alhambra.

Granada January 2010 HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Beautiful drive between Barcelona and Granada. Lots of variety in the terrain. Great to see Kyla and Jorge and their large Spanish family. Katya and Isabel are precious! New Christmas lights in the plazas and streets.
