Rome December 2009 Trevi Fountain, The Spanish Steps

Lots of walking, a rainy day, a late start, more walking. Still so much to see. The city is a museum in itself. Ruins and remnants of buildings are almost in every vista in the center of Rome. Newer buildings were built with parts of intact ruins as a base or part of the walls. The church at the top of the Spanish Steps used to be the Spanish embassy.

The Trevi Fountain is huge and incredibly ornate. We saw them both in the rain and the sunshine. The crowds got bigger every day we were there but we never stood in line. Temperatures were always mild. We were so fortunate.
